How much is the fee? 

The Municipal Tourist Tax has a unit value of €2.20 in high season and €1.10 in low season.

High Season: May 1st to October 31st

Low Season: November 1st to April 30th. 

Who pays and who collects?

The municipal tourist tax is applied per overnight stay and per guest aged 12 years or older (charged from 13 years), staying in tourist resorts, local accommodation establishments and accommodation in a natural context, up to a limit of 7 overnight stays per stay. The collection and settlement of the overnight stay fee is the responsibility of the individuals or legal entities that operate tourist resorts, local accommodation establishments and accommodation in a natural context. 

Who is exempt? 

Disabled guests, i.e. those with any disability equal to or greater than 60%, provided they show proof of this condition. 

Where will the revenues be applied?  

The municipal tourist tax is intended to finance activities and investments related to tourism activities, such as information and support to tourists, strengthening the safety of people and property, maintenance works and urban, territorial, patrimonial and environmental qualification of public space, as well as the creation of infrastructure and cultural, artistic and leisure centers in the municipality of Mafra.

How much is the fee? 

Value of the municipal tourist tax to 2€.

Who pays and who collects? 

The municipal tourist tax is applied per overnight stay and per guest, aged 12 years or older (charged from 13 years), who stays in tourist resorts, local accommodation establishments and accommodation in a natural context, up to a limit of 3 overnight stays per stay. 

Who is exempt? 

a) Guests under 13 years of age, the day they reach this age limit is exempt;

b) Guests who have their stay offered by the responsible entities;

c) Guest and an accompanying person who can be proven to be traveling to the Municipality of Sintra for health reasons, namely medical appointments, exams and treatment;

d) Guests staying in the establishments, by express determination of the Municipality of Sintra or Social Security. 

Where will the revenues be applied? 

This rate is intended to be applied to projects, studies, equipment or infrastructure that have a direct or indirect impact on the promotion and quality of tourism in the Municipality of Sintra, with a view to sustainable long-term growth.
